TWEET 'EM @DishingOnMovies Golden Hobbit Donuts (Makes 12 to 14 doughnuts) INGREDIENTS 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon active dry yeast, divided 1 cup whole milk, heated to 110˚F, divided 2 to 2 ½ cups bread flour, divided 2 tablespoons superfine sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 egg yolks 1/4 cup (or 2 ounces) unsalted butter Vegetable oil for frying Golden Sprinkles SPECIAL EQUIPMENT Large Pot for frying Deep Fry Thermometer Doughnut Cutter (any ol' round-shaped item will work) DIRECTIONS In a medium bowl, dissolve 1 tablespoon of the yeast into 3/4 cup of the milk. Add 3/4 cup of the flour to the yeast and milk mixture and stir to create a smooth paste. Cover and let rest in a warm spot for 30 minutes. Combine the remaining milk and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Add the rested flour paste mixture, vanilla, and egg yolks into the mixing bowl (stand mixer).
